Holiday pickies.

I have just posted a few long awaited holiday pickies from our trip on the way to and back from Alice Springs last month.

These were a few taken with my little digital camera. DH took a few thousand photos so I may have to post some of his later.

On the knitting front I am in the process of knitting another mystery object but will not post pictures just yet as it's a gift.

I have almost finished Miss 3's cardigan with the Bendigo Woollen Mills yarn as I only have to finish the front button band, sew in the sleeves and finish making the buttons. (I am making whats called Dorset Buttons to go onto this cardi.)

I have knit 1 toe up sock from Bendigo yarn over the weekend while I was at a conference and have the small challenge of putting the mystery object down to knit the other sock.

I have done a few other things but will wait until next time to post about them with some pictures added.

I have been Tagged

Katt was lovely enough to tag me! So here is mine.

id•i•o•syn•cra•sy - a structural or behavioral characteristic peculiar to an individual or group. Write down 5 of your own idiosyncrasies, then if you wish, tag 5 people.

1. I hate making mistakes in my craft work. Hate it, hate it, HATE IT. I don't care if it can't be seen because I know it's there.

2. I count all the rows on my knitting so that everything is even and will seam up straight. I can't stand having to wangle things so that they have to fit. I like things to be just so.

3. I must read before I go to sleep. I just can't seem to settle if I don't read. DH always complains that the light is on but as I say "You can always move to another bed if it annoys you."

4. I am really fussy with the way I hang the washing out. The underwear always goes on the inside of the line away from prying eyes. (you never know who's looking over the fence) Towels and linen go to the left half of the line and clothing to the right. (adults clothes first then the childrens) DH is always making fun of the way I hang out the washing and really gives it to me when he hangs it out evry which way and in no order.(which is not very often as I HATE the way he hangs it out)

5. I sooooooooooo love to make a point by exxxxxxxxxxtending my words out. It may be annoying to some people but I soooooooo enjoy doing it.

Time for blast off. My blue Patonyle socks over the sign at the old rocket test site at Woomera.

Miami sock yarn bought from Bendigo Woollen Mills for $3.00 a ball. 

Start of cardigan for miss 3 with 8 ply pure wool bought from Bendigo Woollen Mills. The colour is "thistle". 

Plain flutter yarn bought at Lincraft, Melbourne for only 99c a ball. It's a little like feathers but sooooooooo soft. 

We're home again

As you may have guessed we are home again.

The night on the boat (Spirit of Tasmania I) was a bit (let's rephrase that to quite a bit) rocky for the 1st few hours last night but it was really smooth sailing for the rest of the voyage. Even though it was a bit rocky the voyage was still really comfortable.

For all you Tasmanians and also non- Tasmanians instead of flying why don't you try the alternate transport and sail as it is good foor the Tasmanian economy and it's a great experience.

On the knitting front I still haven't finished the mystery project but now I'm home hopefully it won't be long until it's finished.

I am almost half way up the back of miss 3's cardigan and the pattern is looking really nice. Katt you may want to photocopy the pattern as it's really nice and it is sooooooooooo easy to follow.

My pair of Opal socks with the silver fleck that I was knitting have been finished and I have also made a pair of childs socks from the leftover striped Opal.

I got quite a bit of knitting done while we were sight seeing but the pickies will have to wait until they are loaded onto this computer as they are all on DH's laptop as well as he's burnt them off onto disc as we have been wending our way around the north island.

Oh well I suppose I had better go and finish unpacking and finish the little bit of washing that we bought home with us. Yuck!

I have been sidetracked

I have been sidetracked by a visit to the Be4ndigo Woolen Mills. Wow what a place the back room is.

I bought heaps of yarn including a mob of sock yarn.

I have started miss 3 a cardigan with yarn and pattern bought there with her instigation. She helped pick them out but my arm didn't need much twisting.

We sail for home on Thursday so we'll get there on Friday and hopefully the sea won't be too rough as the weather has cracked up in Melbourne this afternoon.

We had just got back to the motel after spending the day at the zoo when it started to rain.

Having a ball

Hi all.

We've been having a ball travelling around the north island (mainland Australia) for the past week and a half.

We've been to Mount Gambier, Adelaide, Port Augusta, Coober Pedy, conferencing in Alice Springs and now we are at Uluru.

It has been a blast but travelling is oh so tiring. Little missy has done a lot of dozing in the back seat while DH has been driving and I have been TA DA knitting.

I have completed my blue Patonyle socks, knit a pair of Opal socks for myself and started a pair of blue fleck Opal socks. The Opal knits up sooooooooo beautifully. Why have I used other sock yarn? Could it be that the other stuff is a lot cheaper to buy?

I haven't as yet completed the mystery project but it is almost done. It was too hot in Alice Springs for it any way.

While in the Alice we went out for dinner and tried crocodile and it was really nice. It is hard to explain the flavour but others have said it tasted a bit like chicken and they are riight but it has a slightly firmer texture than chicken though.

Last night DH has kangaroo for dinner and it was sooooooooooo nice.
